AFCON Qualifiers: Eagles camp comes alive as players arrive

The Super Eagles recorded a full house, yesterday, ahead of Sunday’s 2024 Africa Cup of Nations Group A final qualifying fixture against the Falcons of Sao Tome and Principe in a match that will hold at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Eight players were available for training on Wednesday, while two others joined them in the later in the day  But team captain, William Troost-Ekong, led 11 others into the team’s camp yesterday.

Coach Jose Paseiro had the full complement of all 22 players during the team’s first full training session at the Nest of Champions yesterday

The Super Eagles reportedly thrashed Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 last year. The visitors arrived in Nigeria, yesterday, with a different squad of entirely foreign-based stars, boasting of upsetting the apple cart, knowing the Super Eagles recent vulnerability at home. The Super Eagles top the group with 12 points, two points adrift of Guinea-Bissau in second place, meaning a win or draw in Sunday’s match will see Nigeria head to the 2024 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire as champions of the group
