Enugu State Government aligns its Education Development Goals with Godfrey Okoye University’s Vision
Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has affirmed that his administration’s education agenda aligns with the vision and mission of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu. The governor made this known during the university’s 12th convocation ceremony held at the Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Convocation Arena, Ugwuomu campus.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Dr. Mbah highlighted his administration’s achievements in the education sector. He lauded the university’s rapid progress, describing it as a testament to its commitment to quality education.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing education in the state, citing the ongoing construction of over 250 smart schools as a key initiative to enhance experiential learning for Enugu’s citizens. He congratulated the graduating students and commended the university’s management for upholding the core values of education, particularly morality and discipline.
The Proprietor of Godfrey Okoye University and Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, expressed gratitude for the institution’s remarkable growth and development. He attributed the success to divine blessings and praised the state government for its support while calling for more collaboration. The Bishop also commended the Vice-Chancellor and his team for their unwavering dedication to the university’s mission.
Prof. Bartho Okolo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, welcomed dignitaries who attended the event despite the prevailing economic and security challenges in the nation. He praised the university’s staff for their commitment to molding graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to societal development.
The convocation marked another milestone in the university’s journey, as it continues to play a vital role in advancing education and moral discipline in Enugu State and beyond.
