Godfrey Okoye University Enugu Celebrates 14 Years of Uninterrupted Service

In a momentous celebration of 14 years of unwavering service and the 11th convocation of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, the Executive Director of Globethic.net Geneva and member of the university’s governing council, Monsignor Professor Obiora Ike, delivered a compelling sermon during a Holy Mass to inaugurate the festivities.

Monsignor Professor Ike reflected on the university’s founding principles, emphasizing its establishment as a response to the perceived indolence and rascality observed in some federal and state universities. Centering his sermon on the four elements of life—light, truth, and unity—he underscored the institution’s commitment to promoting life.

Expressing concern over the prevalent violence and killings in various parts of the country, Monsignor Professor Ike highlighted the modern scientific challenge of utilizing technology to confront human intelligence. He appealed to affluent Nigerians to contribute generously to the university’s development, urging them to immortalize themselves through such philanthropy. He cited Governor Peter Mbah, who, prior to assuming the leadership of Enugu State, left an enduring legacy by constructing and donating a modern auditorium to the Faculty of Law at the university.

Vice Chancellor Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke extended gratitude to Monsignor Ike for gracing the event and delivering a commendable testimony about the institution. He reminded students that spiritual and intellectual formation remained the university’s top priority. Reverend Father Professor Anieke emphasized that character assessment extended beyond lectures, encompassing various activities.

An additional highlight of the event was the announcement by Reverend Father Professor Anieke of the appointment of Mr. Eric Mbaeze as the Director of the university and its group of institutions’ choir.

The 14th-anniversary celebration and 11th convocation of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu marked not only a milestone but also a reaffirmation of the institution’s dedication to fostering life, light, truth, and unity.
