Godfrey Okoye University makes history again

GODFREY OKOYE UNIVERSITY Enugu has emerged the 1st university to reach semi-final in the British Parliamentary Debate organised for Nigerian Universities after one month of preparations.

Represented by 10 students drawn from the various faculties in the university, the students were commended for their performance in the All Nigerian Youth Debate Championship held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and came back with a medal as the 3rd best adjudicator.

Receiving the students, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke explained that the emphasis of the management was to establish a university with identity, stressing that there is no university without the students.

The Vice-Chancellor noted with appreciation that the Gouni representatives did not allow students from other institutions to intimidate them rather they worked hard to achieve result.

“You should sustain the success, define the society and avoid playing second roles in the society but strive to be on top always”, Reverend Father Professor Anieke advised.

In a comment, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Sister Professor Marysylvia Nwachukwu noted with appreciation that the University is helping to shape the future and that the students believed in what they were doing.

Sister Professor Nwachukwu was optimistic that the university representatives would influence other students positively and encourage them to achieve their goals.

In their comments, the students expressed gratitude to the management of the university for giving them the opportunity to participate in the competition, promising to continue to project the image of the institution.

Earlier , the Coordinator of the university students’ competition, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu said the students were already preparing for more national and international competitions.

Mrs. Chukwu expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the encouragement and support to the students for the competition.

Godfrey Okoye University Radio 106.9 FM launched in 2014 as a campus radio station and began operation on the 21st of October, 2015 through the effort of our formidable Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Christian Anieke supported by the Senate of the University to serve as a broadcast medium to inform, educate, entertain and enlighten the host community and the general public.
