Godfrey Okoye University Urges Architecture Department to Lead Campus Development

Godfrey Okoye University management has called for a more prominent role from its Department of Architecture in the institution’s development, focusing future projects on the main campus at Ugwuomu Nike Enugu.

Vice Chancellor Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke announced plans to relocate the Department of Architecture to the main campus. This move aims to enable students to actively participate in structural projects, enhancing their practical experience. Professor Anieke also encouraged architecture students to join professional associations to further their knowledge and skills.

Expressing gratitude to the Enugu State Government for its ongoing support, Professor Anieke highlighted the importance of the state’s contributions to the university’s growth.

During an accreditation visit, Architect Ifeanyi T. H. Nnaobi, leader of the team from the Architect Registration Council of Nigeria, explained that accreditation ensures compliance with standards rather than serving as a punitive measure. He recommended that Godfrey Okoye University, recognized as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing institutions, establish a Faculty of Architecture to bolster its academic offerings.

The visiting architects praised the discipline exhibited by the university’s students. The accreditation visit was attended by the university’s principal officers and most of the lecturers from the Department of Architecture.
