Godfrey Okoye University Vice-Chancellor Receives Integrity Icon of Nigeria Award

The Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, has been honored with the Integrity Icon of Nigeria Award. The university itself was also recognized as the best private university east of the Niger and the third-best in Nigeria.

The accolades were conferred by a non-governmental organization based in Lokoja, Kogi State. The awards ceremony took place during a visit to the university by the NGO’s officials, led by the Executive Director, Salli Yakubu.

In his acceptance speech, Reverend Father Professor Anieke emphasized the fundamental roles of a university: conducting research, teaching, and offering community service. He highlighted that Godfrey Okoye University has consistently fulfilled these roles to the glory of God. He also stressed the importance of ethics in all university services, citing the establishment of a Directorate of Ethics linked to its headquarters in Geneva as a testament to this commitment.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration, Professor Gozie Ogbodo, expressed gratitude, stating that the awards signify recognition and appreciation from Nigerians and the broader community for the university’s contributions to education and society.

Earlier, the leader of the visiting team, Mr. Yakubu, explained that the honors were in recognition of the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and the university’s role in promoting education.

Godfrey Okoye University Radio 106.9 FM launched in 2014 as a campus radio station and began operation on the 21st of October, 2015 through the effort of our formidable Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Christian Anieke supported by the Senate of the University to serve as a broadcast medium to inform, educate, entertain and enlighten the host community and the general public.
