GOU TO PARTNER ENUGU EAST LGA IN HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

The Enugu East Local government administration is to spend about 500 million Naira in human capital development in the next two years.

The Executive Chairman of the local government, Pastor Beloved Dan-Anike who announced this during a visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke explained that the programme would be in five categories.

Pastor Anike said 500 people would benefit from the educational programme while about 1000 others would be involved in vocational training.

According the Enugu East Local government chairman, the visit was to seek partnership with Godfrey Okoye University in the implementation of the programme.

He said a percentage of the beneficiaries would be non citizens of the Local government resident in the area, stressing that “getting it right today defined tomorrow”.

Pastor Anike noted with appreciation, the giant strides recorded by the university in the promotion of education in the state and called on other organisations as well as individuals to support the state governor fill the skill gap available in the state.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor says the university is the pride of the local government, pointing out that the institution is the best private university in the South East as shown in the various world rankings.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke who welcomed the chairman and his entourage on behalf of the Senate of the university stressed the willingness of the institution to partner the local government to realise the objectives of the programmes.

The chairman was accompanied on the visit by the Vice chairman of the local government, , Kingsley Obi Anike and some other top officials of the administration.

Godfrey Okoye University Radio 106.9 FM launched in 2014 as a campus radio station and began operation on the 21st of October, 2015 through the effort of our formidable Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Christian Anieke supported by the Senate of the University to serve as a broadcast medium to inform, educate, entertain and enlighten the host community and the general public.
