Illegal Sudanese immigrants nabbed in Lagos
The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service said it had arrested 32 illegal Sudanese immigrants in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state.
The Comptroller of the Command, Bala Dangana, disclosed that the Sudanese were brought into the state by suspected traffickers who enticed them with employment offers.
Dangana, in a statement made available to newsmen yesterday by the command’s media unit, said, that the Nigerian Immigration Service apprehended 32 irregular migrants from Sudan and Burkina Faso.
He noted that the arrest was achieved through due diligence and intelligence gathering, and information sharing with other relevant security organizations, as well as support from the Ag. Comptroller General of the NIS, Caroline Adepoju and the support of the state government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The NIS called on Lagosians for useful information to track illegal immigrants entering the state and also sought the governor’s support to launch “The Citizens Connect App.”
