
Management of GOU Pledge to Sustain Excellence in Education
Students capacity to add value to society is the yardstick for verifying an Institution’s smartness and excellence.
Correspondent Godwin Umeh reports that the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke made the remark while addressing staff and students of the university during a ceremony to end the 2023-24 academic session.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university praised the students especially those of the computer science department of the University for demonstrating excellence in their field of study.
“University degree is more than passing exams. It is also about equipping graduates with the requisite skills to find solutions to the problems of the society”, Reverend Father Professor Anieke stated.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Godfrey Okoye University had played its expected roles effectively by carrying out research on issues that affect the society, teaching and rendering other services to humanity.
He revealed that the institution’s DNA Learning Centre was partnering with the Enugu State Government in the areas of forensic analysis to detect criminals, conduct paternity tests and carry out scientific research on agricultural and health issues.
The Vice Chancellor said every effort was being made to make the University’s Teaching Hospital one of the best in the country to render efficient research and medical services to the people.
Reverend Father Professor Anieke announced that non-final year students of the university would commence their long vacation on Saturday the 29th of June and return to campus on the 4th of October this year for the continuation of their studies.
He further revealed that a thanksgiving Holy Mass for final year students of the institution would take place on Sunday 30th June 2024.
