Participantsof of the Godfrey Okoye University Students Entrepreneurial Programme-STEP-s have received five thousand Euro while five million naira was given STEP participants .
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke who made the presentation urged the students to make good use of the opportunity and the money given to them to start up a business that they could manage.
The Vice chancellor noted that the university is living up to her name as the fast, progressive institution, stressing that the STEP was born out of the need to reduce the rate of unemployed graduates in Nigeria.
He said that at the end of the program each student should be able to run and manage a stable business earning genuine income.
According to Reverend Father Professor Anieke, every student before graduating from Godfrey okoye University must have a STEP certificate, as a requirement to graduate.
He said the STEP teaches and equips students to be entrepreneurs and job Creators, and apply the knowledge gained in the classroom and commended the director of STEP, Mr Chris Nwakwe for this achievement.
Earlier, Mr. Uwakwe expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for approving the programme and promised that the Directorate of Entrepreneurial Studies would continue to train students to acquire the necessary skills that would make them employers of labour.
