
Press Release: Godfrey Okoye University Enugu Promotes Eighteen Academic Staff to the Ranks of Professors, Associate Professors and Senior Lecturers

Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, has promoted eighteen academic staff to the ranks of professors, associate professors and senior lecturers.
Out of the number, eight academic staff of the University was promoted to the rank of professor.
The Registrar of the university, Dr. Nnamdi N.S. Ene, who announced this, said that two other staff were promoted to the rank of associate professor while eight other academic staff were elevated to the rank of senior lecturer.
Those promoted to full professors were Dr. Mrs. Felicia N. Ene (Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education as Professor of Language Education English); Dr. Nick A. Obodo (Department of Business Management as Professor of Public Administration with specialization in Human Resource Management); Dr. Mrs. Regina Udaba (Department of English and Literary studies as Professor of English); Dr. Michael C. Nwafor (Department of Accounting and Finance as Professor of Banking and Finance) and Rev. Fr. Dr. Donatus N. Nwobodo (Department of Educational Foundations as Professor of Education).
Also promoted to the rank of full professors were Dr. Titus F.I. Nwanne (Department of Accounting and Finance as Professor of Banking and Finance); Dr. Sergius N. Udeh (Department of Accounting and Finance as Professor of Accounting) and Rev. Sister Dr. MarySylvia Nwachukwu, (Director Academic Planning and Services as well as of the Department of History International Studies and Diplomacy as Professor of Religion and Biblical Theology).
Professor Innocent Ferdinand Anidile Uzoechi (Department of History, International Studies and Diplomacy) was also promoted to full Professor of History before he died.
Those elevated to the rank of Associate Professors were Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Martin O. Obayi of the Department of Mass Communication and Rev. Fr. Dr. Okechuku Ani of the Department of History, International Studies and Diplomacy.
The Registrar added that the academic staff promoted to the rank of senior lecturer included Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Nwachukwu of the Department of History, International Studies and Diplomacy; Dr. Elias Igwebuike Agbo Department of Accounting and Finance; Dr. George C. Okorie of the Economics Department; Dr. Ignatius Nnamdi Aguene, Sociology/Psychology Department and Dr. Godwill Azeh Engwa, Chemical Sciences Department.
Also moved to the rank of Senior Lecturer of Godfrey Okoye University were Dr. Simon N. P. Nwankwo, Department of Accounting and Finance; Dr. Mrs. Hilda C. Agusiobo, Department of Educational Foundations and Dr. Mrs. Veronica C. Ude, Department of Science and Vocational Education.
In their reactions, Professor Mrs. Ene, Professor Nwanne Professor Obodo, Professor Ude and Professor Nwafor expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Professor Christian Anieke and other members of University Senate of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu for their promotion.
The new professors said the elevation would serve as a tonic, filling them with the intellectual energy to perform their duties better.
“The promotions were approved by the Governing Council of the university during its 25th meeting, following the recommendations of the Senior Staff Appointments, Promotions and Disciplinary Cases Committee of the Council,” the Registrar added.
Dr. Ene said that other decisions taken by the Council included approving additional roles for some officers while a few were redeployed to other arms of the university’s groups of institutions.
