See Harvest, Thanksgiving and Bazaar as opportunity to appreciate God for his mercy, guidance, blessings and protection, Christians adviced
Christian faithful are advised to see Harvest, Thanksgiving and Bazaar as opportunity to appreciate God for his mercy, guidance, blessings and protection.
Correspondent Obioma Izunegbu reports that a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Clifford Ojukwu gave the advice in a sermon during a Holy Mass to mark this year’s Harvest Thanksgiving and Bazaar of the Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy Thinkers Corner Enugu.
Reverend Father Ojukwu reminded the faithful that greatness would not be achieved by imposing one’s authority on others but by being their servants, stressing that service is sacrifice.
He urged the people to demonstrate God’s goodness by donating generously and supporting the activities of the church.
In a remark, the Chairman of the occasion, and Chief Executive Officer of Tribu Hotel, Thinkers Corner Enugu, Chief Ozor Nnamdi Silas urged Nigerians, especially the leaders to show interest in those that have interest in them.
Earlier in an opening remarks, the Rector of the Chaplaincy and Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke said the people needed divine protection in the context of incalculable financial hardship, heart-breaking rising cost of every imaginable things, political turbulence and rascalities.
Reverend Father Professor Anieke also frowned at such horrendous criminal activities as kidnapping, armed robberies, assassination, rape of even minors, arson, frauds as well as all forms of drug offences.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the people need divine protection as they had been traumatised by shocking trivialisation of human life and in the face of all forms of evil in the society.
The Harvest, Thanksgiving and Bazaar which was attended by the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Christian Nwachukwu Okeke, principal officers, and some Deans of the university as well as members of different groups in the Chaplaincy focused on gratitude and appreciation for the blessings received.
