SSG Onyia Calls for Redesign of Educational Curricula

The Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, has called for the redesign of Nigeria’s educational curricula and the establishment of curriculum review boards to enhance inclusivity and responsiveness in the education sector.

Professor Onyia made the call while delivering the 19th Inaugural Lecture of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, titled “Motion without Movement: A Retrospective Introspection on Curricular Sedimentation in Digital Ontology.”

He emphasized that the measure would promote ongoing auditing, detection, and elimination of stagnant educational processes, thereby improving the quality of learning content nationwide.

Professor Onyia observed that curricular sedimentation resists reform because it reinforces hegemonic social norms that hinder flexibility and inclusivity.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, commended Professor Onyia for delivering a rich and thought-provoking lecture.

Godfrey Okoye University Radio 106.9 FM launched in 2014 as a campus radio station and began operation on the 21st of October, 2015 through the effort of our formidable Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr.
